2020 Illustrated Calendar
Our calendar this year illuminates wonderful creatures that dwell* in the British Isles - we want to keep them! From the tiniest Ramshorn Snail to the elusive Pine Marten, they’re all species that are on the brink of extinction, due mainly to loss of habitat. Dunes, lowland heathland, woodland, scrub, marshland ditches have all been diminishing as farmland, or developments have taken over. We've highlighted these creatures in our calendar, to celebrate them and to sound the alarm. Wildlife needs wild places. Plant trees, celebrate scrubland, leave brownfield sites, don’t mow the lawn, let the verges grow :)
The calendars are printed by hand with water based inks on 100% recycled card. The packaging bags we use are biodegradable and made from starch rather than plastic. They're A5 sized and come with a metal clip to hang them. We've marked bank holidays and there's a space for notes at the bottom of each month. Along with the name of the animal we've illustrated.
Lastly, among other conservation organisations, there’s one called Back from the Brink which is aiming to save twenty species (12 of which we’ve featured here) at risk in England with conservation projects all over the country. Look them up.
*at least for part of the year!
